Wix Made Easy
Begginers Menual
WixPulse is a social messaging tool we've developed especially for our needs. The Pulse lets us share all that we do at Wix.
Maintaining that startup feeling, where everyone joins the effort to make Wix products the best they can be, is not easy.
This is why we have the Pulse.
The Pulse lets us collaborate inside teams and share information with others in the company. The Pulse helps us focus on what we want to do and have others help and offer advice.
How does it work?
Everything in the Pulse is about 1 item that is called a Pulse
A pulse can be a project, a team or a topic. Everyone can open pulses, in fact you are encouraged to do so.
Every Pulse has members that are in charge of updating the pulse. Anyone can follow a pulse and get updates. Popular pulses have lots of followers.
We currently have lots of pulses for each of Wixs various projects and Pulses for interesting subjects wed like to share Web Style Trends, Javascript Dev, Developer Talks, Wix in the news and even Updates on Competitors.
How to start?
•Go to wixpulse.com and sign in (1 click).
•Read the news feed and look around find some interesting pulses to follow. You can also search for topics projects or people.
•Fill your personal details and have yourself added to your Team Pulse.
If you have questions post it on the WixPulse pulse or message any of the WixPulse team members.
At Wix, we have 3 ways to make sure that we are all on the same page and know what are co-workers are working on.
The captain's log is a critical tool for us as a company to follow all the changes that happen on Wix.com and may affect the performance of our company.
ALL changes that affect our website/editor/system/users MUST be recorded on the log http://captain.wixpress.com/
Below are some examples of events that must go up there (but not limited to the list):
1. Changes on main website pages (home-page, create, myaccount, explore etc.)
2. Email marketing
3. Patches
4. Versions
5. Bugs that affect users
6. System problems
7. Outside problems that affect Wix, for example: attacks on our servers, billing provider downtime, Flash versions that changed performance etc.
8. New content of any kind
9. Changes in template arrangement
If you are not sure about whether something needs to go up, ask!
The Captains Log must be kept up-to date and there is no such thing as too many posts!
To update events on the log, simply email captain@wix.com and it will automatically be posted on the Captains Log.
One of our customs here at Wix are the Monthly Updates, where we all get together for about an hour of presentations and discussions on recent changes to make sure we are all on the same page. Afterwards, if you are not in a hurry you are welcome to stay and enjoy a beer and some nibbles.
