The benefit you get is taxable, hence the value of the benefit (equals the number of meals you ate during the past month multiplied by 30 NIS per meal) will be added to your gross salary and you will pay taxes and social security (Bituach Leumi) taxes on it. If your meal cost more than 30 NIS and up to 70 NIS it can still be deducted from your salary, which means you won't have to remember to carry credit cards or cash with you (other than for tipping the waiter).
